04/30/24 Sun in W/L and CaK

Hey everyone, hope all is well :D

A rainy morning; I'm getting tired of the past months dampness. I left for work at 5:30AM, was nothing but drizzle and rain till noon. I got home at a bit after 1PM to overcast skies and 9C (50F) outside. I did a few things around here, and took a look out the back door at 3:30. Not the best of skies, but it had warmed up to 15C (65F); even Sasha the cat was appreciative of it:

Between the clouds and the humid haze I managed to get a few thousand frames in. These were done with my 61mm. The first is white light with Baader 3.8OD film and a 7.5NM Continuum and UV/IR cut filter with my ZWO camera. It's got some pixelation to it, white light does that with hazy skies.

And these two are with a Baader Ca-K filter in the above scope/camera configuration. Better than the white light for detail, plus this filter seems to "punch through" hazy skies.

I would have labelled the spots in one of my images, but this royalty-free image from the SOHO website does nicely. Though it would seem I'm a little off in my alignment....:D

AR3654 turned into a monster region; I wish the past few days had been clear. Using LuSol, I got a decent image (I think) of it before it's gone off the disc:

And my weather forecast calls for rain and clouds for the next few days. We'll see; according to today's forecast I shouldn't have been able to get any of this

Clear skies and best of luck to you all!
Mark
