Today's setup was a test for the upcoming annular and total eclipses. Because of the motion of the moon across the surface of the Sun, I've come to realize that capturing even 15sec SER files may introduce artifacts. I wanted to see just how sharp of an image I could get by capturing individual frames.

I'm curious if anyone knows why the active region between 3441 and 3433 hasn't been given a number designation?
I checked SpaceWeather.com and also SolarMonitor.org.

Hi Greg, great images!! I hope your weather is clear on the 14th of next month as well. Looking forward to seeing what you get!
I'll hopefully be out as well, though only a partial for me. That's OK, I only have to drive south for an hour to see totality next April.
As for that "un-numbered spot, it's now AR3443. It wasn't really there on the 20th, then it just grew by the 21st.
Both of these images were taken at between 3-4PM EST on the 20th and 21st respectively; you can see what I mean by the growth of it.
Amazing what can happen in 24 hours on the Sun.
Please excuse my mouse drawn arrows
And this morning at 6ish AM, both SpaceWeather.com and the SOHO site now had a designation for it.
All the best and hope you don't mind my images in your thread,
Mark
