Forest fire smoke and the Sun

#1

Post by Thefatkitty »

Hey all, hope you're good :D

We've had a lot of heat, humidity, and forest fire smoke coming in from north-west Ontario for the past week. This was my sky at a quarter to seven this morning:
AMSun2.jpg

However, I did manage to get some shots of ol' Sol through the somewhat clearer skies with my Baader equipped C80-HD at about 4PM. Still milky-blue and hazy, but I took it for what I could.

To the left is AR2846, and to the right is AR2842. AR2845 has disappeared, and what is between AR's 2846 and 42 is a new one to me; it wasn't on Spaceweather.com this morning.
It will probably get a designation tomorrow.

I have to be up in 6 hours from now; so have a good night everyone

Ca-K - W/O 61mm, Antares 1.6 barlow, Baader 3.8 OD and Ca-K filters with a ZWO ASI174mm.
W/L - C80-HD with Baader 5.0 & 3.8 Solar film, Solar Continuum 7.5nm and UV/IR filters with a Canon EOS 550D.

Oh yeah, and Solar Cycle 25 :D

It's really crazy how much smoke is covering the entire U.S. now.

I think I like the format (not the current content!) of this map better than NOAA maps. 96 fires in central Canada, 118 east of Vancouver / Seattle...
