Artistic Prominence with surface detail

#1

Post by FRAZ »

Artistic Prominence. Due to the view and scope of perspective I wanted to make this one a little more dramatic.
2600 frames stacked at 10% in AS3
Lucy in imppg but lightly for prominence detail retention.
Photoshop inverted, smart object and then smart sharpened.
Photoshop selective colour on neutrals for red couloration.
Photoshop selective colour on white to give the background a red hue on black.

Mentored by Keith, Mike, John and Bill. (The old guard) and forever grateful.
PST mod stage 2 - Quark on extended loan and yet to repay with value ;)
Camera- ASi 174 mono no tilt required.
BF10,15,30 straight through with baader ffc. (looking to replace the rusted IFT on 10 + 15 with a maier replacement)
Lots of nighttime scopes and stuff but focus on the sun.

I was really lucky, the detached prom in the centre of the outburst was only visible in this section, I imaged it again later and it was gone. It is like a balloon freed in slow motion. When I say slow I am talking terrestrial, it was probably moving at many thousands of miles an hour.

Autostakkert for stacking, no competition.

This needs a post on its own to cover but i look at quality and move between 10 and 25%. Stick with 10 if unsure and middle ground on noise. I often capture 2560 frames and stack 10% of them, this is an optimum SNR ratio. If you get less frames then 1280 is another good marker. If you are getting grain when you sharpen then this is your limitation. It is seeing, frames and quality of equipment.

If your seeing is good then by all means up the noise rebust but I have seen little benefit as yet.

The detail in the spicule level was so sharp in this one, the yellow into white is so delicate that over processing would only hurt it.

Nice Fraz :)

Was that captured on Saturday?

It was from that Monday the 24th I still haven't got round to processing them all yet.
