Active Region AR2812 and Prominence - March 29, 2021

Post by gcisko »

This was my first astro imaging try of 2021. I used a Tele Vue powermate and somehow avoided the dreaded newtons rings! I have no idea how that happened as I was unable to avoid it last year. I haven't changed anything, but I am taking it. Also I think I barely remembered how to process this image...

Anyway here it is. Click on the picture to get a full res version.

Telescope: Coronado 60mm Solarmax II
Camera: ZWO ASI120MM-S & Tele Vue Powermate 2.5x
Image source: 250 frame AVI video (2)
Date: 3/29/2021

I didn't know there was a sunspot region active until I processed the image and checked. So I think this is AR2812. :Astronomer1:

Hi Greg. An excellent AR2812 image including the prominence. This is great work Greg, and we haven't any solar images on here for over a week, so your capture is greatly appreciated.

Really nicely done Greg, and great that you got AR2812 as well :D Very nice prominences as well. I envy your clear skies!

All the best and hope your previous newton rings problem stays away!
