Nice proms on sun but very windy

#1

Post by Ben Cartwright SASS »

I am not sure whether to try to get anything today. There are several nice proms on the sun today

BUT the steady wind in 14 mph and gusts to 25 mph AND my scope is set up on a patio exposed to the wind it is pretty steady gusts with virtually no time between them. I can deal with the 36 degrees F and the windchill of 26 F but the wind shaking the scope, not sure if it is worth trying.

I don't generally observe when it is windy. I suppose it would be more manageable in the daytime when you can see what the heck is going on, though.

Likely a good call Ben , no point capturing video that can not be used . As you are well aware crisp captures are a joy to work with anything less can be frustrating . I know it is difficult to resist when there is something interesting to image but unfortunately conditions will have the final say . Hope your conditions improve , I do enjoy seeing your images .

I have imaged when it was windy, but yup get crappy images, gusts to 15 that can be estimated are ok but today they were 25+ and every 5 seconds or so.
