AR2866 AR2877 and Large Prom from Sydney 23Oct2021

Managed these despite a lot of high cloud around.

Still experimenting with the 5X Powermate seems it might have internal reflections within the optics ?

Sunspots 2886, 2887 and large prom , 10% frames stacked

Tak 76 , 5X Powermate , Combo Quark, ASI174mm

Thanks John,

Still struggling with this 5X Powermate seems to have internal reflections within the actual optics , I added a small black extension thinking it was the end of the chrome barrel but its still there more noticeable on Proms and edge of Sun images.. Using defocused flats helps some.

Hi Cliff. A very nice gallery of your solar images. I especially enjoyed the AR2886 in Ha capture. Excellent granularity, plages, and active region details. Thanks for sharing this with us Cliff and the best of wishes for many clear skies.

I would think a de-focused flat would only modulate internal reflections.

I'm a big fan of Powermates. You might contact Al Nagler at Tele Vue about the issue. He is about the most helpful, understanding fellow you'll ever talk to. I once had an issue with a Powermate and called the technical support line and was amazed that the owner/founder actually answered. He sent me a new replacement before I actually sent the old one to Tele Vue.
