Midnight isolation - a.k.a who needs sleep anyway...

#1

Post by MartinF »

I can´t say that this isolation was due to the corona virus, but there sure were no people around :)
About an hours drive away from home, then a 20 minute hike through very rough terrain with about 38 lbs (17 kilos) of camera gear with me I finally arrived at this bog where there is a nice little pond. Good thing it was freezing temperatures, otherwise I might have sunk in the water filled holes in the peat :o

I brought a nice candle lit lantern as I had this photo idea planned ahead. It turned out even better than I thought!
This is a combination of 7 photos in total, for focus stacking and exposure blending plus panoramic extension upwards.

Canon 6D + Samyang 24/1.4. No tracking (because I couldn´t carry even more gear).

I only had 2.5 hours of sleep before getting up and heading here. Left home at 1 am. But hey - who needs sleep anyway, right :animals-dogrun: :asleep:
Part of the reason for going here was to stay until sunrise to scout for grouse who are in mating season now and I plan on getting some nice photos of the rivalling birds. I just need to find where they are and set up a hide there.

Hope you like it! Might drop by that photo thread later with some more photos from that morning.

You know, I´ve been wondering the same thing! I even tried to find him a year ago or so. Only via google but still. As far as I can tell he´s disappeared from every forum he was active on. I find no more posts after 2017. I know he´s still alive because I can find his adress and phone number (there is only one person of the right age and name in the city where he´s from) but not more than that.

Very artistic, Martin. Talk about going the distance to get the shot! It was well worth the effort. Well done!
