First attempt
First attempt
[/b]

I know it's not great but I'm so happy with it.

26 images, 8 seconds each took on my Samsung S9plus smartphone.

Stacked in DSS with light frames only.

Its noisy but trying to learn GIMP.

This is a nice beginning Maceemiller.
I am very interested in your technique for taking multiple frames with the cell phone. Do you use a cellphone holder of some kind?
Thank you for posting your work.

Thankyou :)

Ive an old telescope tripod with the alt/az the only part of the mount left. I then bolted 2 L shape metal pieces to the mount, rest my smartphone on it at a 45 degree angle and secure to the clips by a piece of velcro.

I use the stock camera in PRO mode, set the ISO, etc then when im ready to shoot I say "cheese" to the phone and it voice activates the shutter.

Im very happy with the picture yet much to learn!

This is very ingenious!👍

I usually say "SMILE" to fire my galaxy 8 😊
And I assume you use Manual Focus at infinty.
I like what you are attempting here.

On my camera the longest I can get is 10 sec with ISO jacked to 800. Does the s9 give you any more?

I see a brighter area in the center of your image. Where in the MW were you aiming, generally?

For some perspective I have aimed the camera so it picks up just a small section of terrestrial horizon. I realize the MW will not be fully imaged in this way, but...

I wish my cell phone had just a bit more ISO range and a "bulb" exposure setting.
I guess everything has its limitations.

At any rate, I look forward to your further experience in this adventure.

Thank you again for sharing here.

Haha "cheese..." Thats awesome! I used to plug my headphones in, and use the volume buttons as a remote trigger, your way is definitely cooler! lol

Great job mate looks wonderful! It's hard to believe this was shot with your phone! Better than any shots I ever had with my phone
