Aurora borealis over Lake - Black Island
This was taken at the end of July. I noted how poor the contrast was to the north while looking around with the XT10 on the shore of the lake, and realize the aurora were becoming very active.
At this point I went back to the cabin and grabbed the camera to take a few shots. This photo was taken around 1:30 am.
Note the high wisps intercalated with the base aurora near the horizon.
You might be able to see the Milky Way to the far right too, if you look closely.
I used my Nikon D90, 30 sec exposure, 1600 ISO, f3.3 (stopped down one). Lens used was a Rokinon 10mm.
Post-processed in Adobe Lightroom, to boost the contrast a little.
