Helicopter? There is a flashing light at intervals along the trail, you get that often with planes, but with planes you get a double trail which is why i am suggesting a helicopter as that also can more easily travel in a curve.

green strip looks like a drone - flashes and all

I was camped middle of nowhere -
kept seeing 4 lights in photos -

A former neighbor had a drone with purple lights on it. Not sure what requirements for lights might be, but it looked pretty weird.
