SpaceX Falcon9 Second Stage with crossing satellite

#1

Post by Groovy2 »

this is photo of SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage (brighter one ) with a second satellite crossing
Falcon9 2nd stage was moving Very fast - crossed sky in about 5 minutes - most low earth satellites take around 8/9 minutes -
will likely be de orbited pretty soon - photo was taken early december -

I use a canon 70d with 18x55 kit lens - wide open -
Change ISO as sky Darkens - usually between 1200 and 6400 -
also change exposure Time to between 10 to 20 seconds
the trick is to get as Long exposure time with out blowing out stars and sky -

Object is to get long streak with nice stars in background -

Lots of times I just pick darkest park of sky and shoot 10 to 15 shots of dark area -
I usually shoot wide shots and if I see a sat on view screen I zoom in on it -

tonight there is a Chinese spy sat and Falcon9 second stage going to cross over a2 minutes apart -
Im going to mostly try to get falcon 9 -
sky here has broken clouds tonight and this can add some nice piazza to photo - Jay

Glad you all enjoyed -

clouds thickened up but at the last second clouds opened up some and was able to get Falcon9 with another satellite in close to crossing paths -
I think 2nd satellite is Maybe Japanese H2R - I was trying to get both in same photo but they were 75 seconds apart where crossing -
most likely its some other sat
4 sats were pretty dim and I could not see them by eye -
in a few minutes I got 5 sats - and were all in crossing patterns - but really dim just a whisper in photos -

did see one sat by eye but really faint -what ever it was it was going fast - Really fast -
it was not listed on heaven above so dont know what it was - west to east orbit
