Milky Way Project Update

#1

Post by sdbodin »

Started this in summer, image the spine on the Milky Way with my ancient 28mm f2.8 lens of '60s vintage in both Ha and RGB with the ASI1600MC-cool camera. So, an update thru December, Perseus thru Scorpio. Some unknown problems have reared their ugly heads; obviously, camera orientation, can't bolt it on the mount the same way as the angle of the axis of our galaxy is not in line with our Ra, Dec coordinate system. However the simple fix to this anomaly has escaped me, other than trial and error. The other is the need to have a better standard processing for each frame to match in depth and color all the others.

Note; all images 6/5min Ha at f2.8, 15/2min RGB at f4, for one hour total. A fun project, half a dozen still remain, Auriga thru Puppis, which I will get this winter and early spring.

Clear skies,
Steve

Coming along nicely, Steve! The North American Nebula certainly stands out, maybe because it is so close to the center?
