Noctilucent Clouds, June 27
I was pleased to see noctilucent clouds from my home in Liverpool tonight, the first time I have ever seen them. the Sun was 10 degrees below the horizon. Unfortunately there was no way to avoid the street light!
The first image is similar to the naked-eye appearance, the second has the detail enhanced.

Nice ones - we went out into Runcorn Town Park to take some photos, but my focus was out so I won't be posting them here.

Great photo. Focussing is a problem with noctilucent clouds. Ironically it helps to have the moon in the same sky so one can set the focus on that. I've also noticed that street lights tend to barge into the picture!

Focus is not a problem if you set it manually - just set it to infinity! Street lights are another problem...

You would think that setting it to infinity would give perfect focussing for the sky, but I have found that some lenses let you go 'beyond infinity' Setting the lens as far as it will go doesn't always give sharp focussing. Zooming into a bright star like Capella can be a real help in those circumstances.
