Neowise - Photos and Timelapse

#1

Post by Michael Barbieri »

Hi to all.

In the past month the attention of many amateur astronomers and astroimagers has been literally captured, rightly I dare say, by the comet C / 2020 Neowise. Rightly because it was years, too many years, that a comet did not appear so bright as to be visible even to the naked eye. I, who currently have 32 years of age, do not remember any event of this type by heart, not even the famous Hale Bopp who performed in the mid-90s. Bad luck in luck has meant that this comet is, in the hours favorable for observation, little high on the horizon. In the first half of July it was visible shortly before dawn, while now the best time to see it is after sunset and the first hours of the evening. I recently decided to sell all my deep equipment (I don't regret the choice despite the comet) to focus on the planetarium and the macro. Therefore the only photos I took at Neowise are all set in characteristic places in my area. With the set of shots I then made a timelapse. I would like to point out that the music in this video was created ad hoc by my professional friend and musician Pier Mazzini.

I wrote some more info about the time lapse anche photo on my blog: https://www.astroandnature.com/blog/pos ... eowise-tl/

Here the timelapse:

Very nice Michael! I've been out there many nights and morning chasing NEOWISE as well. Timelapse a wonderful way to capture the experience of watching the comet during the changing light of dusk and dawn, and you've done your timelapse beautifully.
