Having been long inspired by bladekeeper and now Dragonsfire, I took a different post-production approach to my lunar imaging in the processing phase. After a slight recrop, I tweaked my previously posted lunar image from a few days back using more contrast finesse, despeckling, layering, and unsharp masking.
This is a 1/6 second ISO640 single-frame image which probably approaches what I call a "serendipity shot" where the sheer number of exposures can sometimes overcome less than ideal seeing conditions -i.e. "the lucky shot" - which then yields a fairly respectable frame grab.
When it comes to lunar or planetary astrophotography I admit to being a total rookie. But I think I'm learning something. Capturing DSOs is still my first love … after my wife of 42 years, of course. Heh!

Thanks everyone. Lunar photography isn't in my wheelhouse, but it is fun for me from time to time. The 180mm Maksutov with its 2700mm focal length before eyepiece projection has proven to be a real champ. The only down side is the slightest of chromatic aberration on planetary imaging probably because of the spherical corrector plate.
