That's a great image, especially for a single frame! The skies must've been quite clear :D

Well done and all the best,

Thanks Mark... I took about 20 of them and tried to stack them and it came out very bad. I am going to try again to stack but the skies were terrible actually however the Moon was very bright.

It gets very blurry. Not sure why it doesn't like these particular images. Pixinsight worked but it didn't look better than the single image. There was a lot of fluctuation/shimmering and distortion in the images from one frame to the next.

I've done many before with PS.

Single frame? A man after my own heart. Great capture, Mac! It looks like you found the "magic moment" with that single frame.

When I take multiple images of the Moon and then review them at home, it looks like a time-lapse movie of writhing Luna as the atmosphere-in-turmoil works its terrible magic on it and every other object in the sky.

BTW, my Arizona vacation/sky safari was a total bust. If it wasn't Pickering 2 skies (as clear and dark as two nights were), or high altitude ice crystal haze, it was the 15 to 20 mph winds. I didn't get a single useable frame! Still had fun on the vacation, though. I went 0 for 4 out of a ten day vacation! No regrets, though. One can't fight mother nature.

Hello Mac. As a lunar image lover, I especially enjoyed your capture. Lots of surface detail, especially along the terminator. Congratulations on wining the APOD award today Mac, and keep looking up.

Hey Hank,

Thanks... it wasn't because I didn't try. Yep, a writhing Luna just as you described. I figured you were away on vacation as I haven't seen any posts this week. Sorry about your imaging fail. I know the feeling all too well and good to know you had a fun vacation.

Thank Marshall... I love taking photos of the terminator while many ask why I don't do full Moons too often. Cause they're boring :D.
