Wild and wacky chaos, I'm thinking.
Anyway, got home about 1800 hrs. this evening. Venus was looking fine and bright in the southwest. I set up in the front yard hoping to grab some frames of our hellish neighboring planet, but the seeing was so atrocious that I could never really achieve focus. I swung over to the Moon (above the roof of my house) but I experienced the same issue there.
I moved everything to the back yard and went back inside to get supper rounded up. After that, I went back out to the scope. Seeing was still pretty rough, but at least I could achieve reasonable focus without dealing with the thermals coming off my roof.
