Tuesday's Moon

Post by Thefatkitty »

After being snowed out for yesterdays Mercury transit, today was nice and clear, blue skies; the works. Of course

However, after dinner, the temperature dropped quite a bit. It's gone from 10C (50F) on Sunday to -14C (7F) tonight. That's almost amazing in a frigid sort of way. About 10PM I looked out, and the clouds were playing tag with the moon.
I checked CDS; didn't look too promising:

Ah, why not. I got my C80 and T3/1100D and let them sit on the table outside to acclimatize. By now it was 10:30. Got the mount from the shed, put it all together, did a rough polar alignment as this might take a bit, and waited out some clear, if not hazy, breaks.

After about half an hour, I had 35 shots at ISO 1600 and 1/2000th second, and enough of the cold. Stacked the best 75% of that mess, a little tweaking in ImPPG, and that was that:

Well, it was something to do. The rest of my week does not look promising in regards to the weather. I do hope you fare better than I :D

All the best,
Mark

Looks excellent to me, ol' buddy!

Clear here. I stepped out back to check it out. After wondering around the yard a bit and seeing my shoe prints in the frozen brown grass I decided I did not want to be cold. I changed my mind later and ventured back out, but work issues brought be back inside. Finally got done with work about 2230 hrs. A nice 14.5 hour day.

I am warm and listening to Abbey Road right now. :D
