In this image I used Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor). I took 12 images with a different exposure setting from 1/40 to 1/500 seconds and run them through ICE. The image has had no post processing what so ever. While this might be a bit of a unorthodox way to do it the result is way better than I got with PhotoShop (CS2).

New to Me Stacking Method
Below is what I got when I tried a technique that is new to me. To date I've been a bit frustrated trying to stack images of the Sun, Moon and Planets. I haven't had much luck using photoshop, and not joy trying to use DSS .

Re: New to Me Stacking Method
This is interesting.
I think I have read something about ICE a while back, Brent.
What you have done here looks successful.
Thank you for posting.

Re: New to Me Stacking Method
I goofed up. As I don't own a field Flattener I forgot to try another trick, which may or may not work. I should have taken the time to run another series of images with a better focus at the limb. Call it the poor mans attempt at field flattening!!!
