September Moon

I finally got around to processing the moon AVI's I took late September.

These were consecutibve nights (20/21 September) on my 8" LX200, f6.3 FR, EOS1100D

Captured in BYEOS, stacked (best 300 from 1000 images) and wavelets in registax and a final tweak in photoshop I'm still playing around with Impgg but not getting them great there yet. Also they seem to come out of impgg in greyscale and I cant work that one out.

Anyway, still a way to go but I'm not ashamed of them.

Very nice David, wow! Yeah, ImPPG makes everything greyscale. Not many people use it and I can see why.

Not at all; if anything I was dumb to recommend it My apologies for possibly wasting your time. I try to not give advice anymore....
You should really take a look at what Bryan (bladekeeper) uses software-wise. He's a master at this for sure!

I really like that first lunar image. Did you use a lot of unsharp masking on that image? I know you probably retweaked the luminance and contrast levels, too. It really pops.

The sharpening was almost entirely done with wavelets in Registax, a very slight "SmartSharpen" in photoshop, with some adjustment of exposure, offset and gamma then pulled the blue channel down a tiny bit in levels. Thats pretty much all I did. looking back at them now I think i maybe overdid the sharpening just a little but I really find that its necessary to leave images and then go back to them a few days later to critique and do final tweaks. I should wait till thats done before posting but patience has never been one of my attributes!

I hear ya. Patience isn't one my virtues either, especially while stuck in traffic which here in Urbana, IL is virtually nil! And unfortunately for me patience doesn't get easier the older I get … well, I'm not going to get too philosophical about the inexorable march of time and our mortality blah, blah, blah.
