Jason's Moon, Friday the 13th (September 2019)

Best I could do here. It has been raining all day long. Got a brief break in the action during the evening hours. The Moon rose up past an eastern cloud bank into a sucker hole. I scored two full disks (one for my lunar cycle series) and 6 panels for this mosaic.

Seeing was terrible. The Moon looked like a Salvador Dali rendition in SharpCap. And lots of bats and other flying things were busy transiting the disk. I ran off a 5000 frame capture just to enjoy the air show.

This full Moon is the Harvest Moon, but considering today's date, I'm gonna dub it Jason's Moon after good ol' Jason Voorhees.

Glad I got cracking when I did. The clouds were quickly swarming back in to hide the sky. Everything was wet anyway, and the dew is monstrous on top of that. And it's also 18 C out there too. Almost time for a jacket.

I took some pics Thursday night at midnight-ish, it was 12 C (53F) and I was thinking if it gets any colder, I'll have to throw a sweater over my T-shirt. Yet you have mentioned temps in the summer with humidity levels that you've been fine in and would probably kill me
We are such products of our environment!

My wife is a doc in an ER here on the island and both Friday the 13th and full moons are notorious for increasing visitations/trips to the ER. So tonight it the dreaded double whammy! Good thing she is currently taking vacay time!

Very fine full disk Jason lunar image Bryan! It is so perfectly and evenly illuminated, it looks like artistry!

It's 9:22PM and the temp outside is 82F/28C. 3PM tomorrow is predicted to be mostly cloudy and 94F. Hopefully I can jump in the pool and watch some football

Stacking frames: Autostakkert! 2
Wavelets: Registax 6
Cropping: GIMP
Mosaic composition: Microsoft Image Composite Editor
Color Balance: StarTools 1.5

I've changed my StarTools process since I made this particular image. I was opening the TIFF in StarTools, reversing the stretch, applying a wipe, then re-stretching and then doing a color balance.

Lately I've been leaving the wipe step out and I like the images better. The maria are not quite as dark and the lighter highland areas are not quite as bright. Offers a bit more of a natural look to it, in my mind.
