Lunar Crater Close Up (I had Excellent Seeing finally!)

#1

Post by TheButcher »

Hi All,

Here is the Moonscape I did. I wrote up all the details and such on my website so I just copied and pasted it here. I send them out to my family and friends and I try to explain it to them as simple write-ups.

Thx for looking :)

(Copied from my website)

"This is a Moonscape that I did on August 25th. The seeing was about average most of the time, but I then caught about 20 minutes of Excellent seeing. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

It was captured with my Apertura AD12 Dobsonian Telescope that also has rings that I put on it and strap it down to my iOptron CEM70 mount. The Cem70 handles the payload like a champ. I think it was about 60 lbs on there and I used 60lbs of counterweights all the way at the end for balance.

I used my ZWO174mm Astro Camera with a Telvue “Big Barlow at around 3.5x". And I could of went higher but instead took advantage of the excellent seeing. After about 20 minutes, the seeing deteriorated a bit and then became hazy but I got a few more in.

I processed it with Autostakert 3 (AS3) then Put it in to Registax for Wavelets and then the finishing touches in PhotoshopCC with the Camera Raw filter.

I took 3500 frames and I stacked 8% of them to produce this final image.

Do you have a space ship to go up and take pictures of the Moon with, like AstroAvani does? ;) All I can say is Wow!

Thanks Gordon, MistrBadgr, and all :)

And about that spaceship MistrBadgr, I actually converted my AD12 to be a Plazma powered Cannon to shoot the 174mm camera out with a lens attached to it. Once my mount was aligned with the moon, all I got to do is press the red button and it went on its way to orbit the moon. :D But my Next target will serve a different purpose. It will be armed with a laser beam this time and aimed at the Starlink satellites and take em out one by one like Atari's Asteroids game.

Also here is another image that I just finished that I shot a few moments after this one.

This one is composed of 3 images that I took around the same area as the first one. I used AS3 and a little PScc
