This Is Not A Lunar Eclipse - It's The Smokey Moon

#1

Post by JayTee »

Took a quick peek outside before bedtime (a normal occurrence for me) and saw a very strangely colored moon. The moon was 15° above the horizon so this was not a truly low to the horizon effect. I grabbed my Canon T3i because my smartphone does not do the moon justice. Shot this image with the camera on a ledge and propped up on my hand (not the stablest mount). Obviously, we have a lot of smoke up here right now.

Enjoy,

Yup. My little Sony HX9V didn't pick up the color very well. :(

I have noticed the Moon being more yellow than normal, I assume from smoke. However, it is not anywhere near that much....just enough to mess with high magnification views. It would be nice if the smoke would run off the mosquitoes. :) Guess I will have to make some of the right kind of smoke myself for that!
