Moonscape Mosaic March 23rd

Hey all,

Here is a small mosaic of about 6-7 images then put together in PS of the Moon on March 23rd.

The seeing was Average to good

Captured in Firecapture then stacked 20% if 10,000 images per stack. I used about 10% Sharpened checked in each stack. I then combined them in PS with Automerge. After that, I did a few touchups towards the Dark area as they were not filled in all the way. And that was it for now. I took another
50 or so images of different parts as well that night but still need to process and try to mosaic some of them.

Equipment Used:
Apertura AD12 12" Dob mounted on my CEM70
ZWO290mm with 1.25" IR/UV Cut filter
Tel Vue "Big barlow" with a 2" extender to increase magnification. (I think it was around 3x)

Hi Brian. A superb lunar mosaic from you with no signs of stitching. Excellent contrast and great surface details along the terminator. Thanks for putting this up here for us to enjoy Brian, and keep up your fine work.

I forgot to mention that this was the first time out with the AD12 Flocked. I fully flocked it with Protostar Flocking board and painted the mirror cell back part with flat black paint. $100 for it but was much easier than the sticky roll to install, like I did with my sold AD10. They say it improves contrast a lot.

I fully flocked it with Protostar Flocking board

A few years back I also flocked one of my newts with the same material. Did it take you forever to receive the flocking from ProtoStar? It took me like 6 months and constant emailing to no avail before the material just magically appeared on my doorsteps one day.

Here he is. I wanted to get something for the ISS that I am working on and a lunar and Planetary. Along with Galaxies and such. I need a Dob base for the ISS tracking and had a Z8 that I used but sold it after I bought this. But before I was gona get the Edge11 or Mead ACF12 or an RC10 Plus the price. But no Availability. So I changed directions and instead I luckily found this Dob practically new 30 min from my house on CN for $700 with extras. And the GSO Rings were $100, I also bought a lightly used GSO RC8 off of CN for Galaxies. So now I can accomplish the ISS, lunar and Planetary ect...

You would think it looks hard to put up, but I have a much easier time than I did with my C11 that I sold. I altered a hand truck to safely transport the AD12 to my backyard and it just slides right off. I then have Farpoint newt Straps where I just position the mount low enough for me to grab the two handles and sits right in the rings.


Here are the photos of it. And the CEM70 handles it like a champ so far.

the snow was a pain this winter with a bunch of storms, but believe it or not, The fake grass I installed Easily clears right away with a shovel, and It will dry real quick, even after it rains, and don't have to worry about mud. I highly recommend the Fake grass if anyone images on grass in their backyard
