Neat touches - the ability to freely move the ROI to centre the image on a feature. Still coming to terms with the white balance, I set it to be paler (less green) than it looks once processed. AS!3, 10 or 15% of frames stacked, Registax 6 cropped & Tweaked in PS 2021.
Cheers,

Tony.

That's excellent clarity Tony. The 305 seems to do the job nicely!

Hi Graeme, That's my feeling too. I'm keen to have a shot at a small DSO with it, as always the clear skies cluster around a full moon :)
Cheers,

Hi Tony,

I too am finding this to be a useful little camera. Nice shots!

On February 23rd I received my SvBONY SV305 telescope camera. I've always said I'm mostly a visually observer but I thought it be nice to have something to capture special Lunar and planetary events. I'd been getting some lucky shots with my cell phone through my telescope but this little camera makes it easy. After learning the software and adjusting the white balance, etc. I captured this shot of the moon. It seems to be equivalent to about a 5 mm eyepiece in my telescope. The 1.250000" barrel adapter doesn't fit well into my 1.250000" focuser without a hammer but it does fit easily into my Celestron 2X Barlow that is a little looser on the specs. So I'm really pushing the magnification limits of my cheap telescope at ~180X and I could only capture part of the Moon but I'm happy with the results of this single shot so far. I can't wait until I can see Jupiter and Saturn again. I still need a lot of practice to clean up the noise but with the seeing being poor last night and the high wind I was lucky not to get just a blur.

I was using my 102 mm, f/4.5, achromatic refractor telescope with a 60 mm aperture mask to reduce the CA (equivalent to f/7.65) and the 2X Barlow. Fixed, manual Alt/Az mount.

Well your white balance is better than mine on these early shots I took, I remain impressed with the camera and I’m going to test it tonight as a guide camera in place of my 224, as I think the 305 will do a better job. No problem so far with the nosepiece for me luckily, can you take the lens out of you Barlow?

Nice to meet you Steve. :D
Cheers,

Tony.

Very nice Tony!

I have not ever used Sharpcap for anything other than the PA Tool. You have created some wonderful images of 'ol luna!

Any problems interfacing the SVBONY with SharpCap?

Thanks Tony and it’s nice to meet you too. That’s an idea, I probably can unscrew the lens out of the Barlow and just use it as a camera adapter. I’ll look into that.

I didn’t have any problems. I had installed the software and camera driver first. When I plugged in the camera it just showed up as an available camera and I selected it with no problems. This is on a Dell laptop with the latest Windows 10 OS.
