Moon 2 Panel Mosaic from October 6th

Hey All,

I did this on October 6th. I think the moon was around the Last Quarter. Anyway, I managed some close-ups with my C11 using my 290mm and 1.5x Antares barlow. This is 2 images that I merged in Photoshop together. I don't know the name of the crater but I am sure someone here does. Since the seeing conditions were really good and the moon was about 65-70 Degrees up I imaged the whole "Last Quater Moon" with my 1600mm and Antares 1.5x barlow after I did this one. It only took 1.2 TBs of data and is made up of over 40+ images I will show that in a later post when finished and to figure out how to get it on my site. It spans over 200".

But this one below was captured in Firecapture and is made up of 8,000 frames and I used 7% of the best of them in Autostakkert. I then put it in Photoshop to do a little cleanup and then dropped into Registax6 for a little bit of Wavelets, then back to Photoshop for completion.

Hello Butcher. The main crater in your image is Crater Arzachel. Crater Alphonsus is just above and Crater Alpetragius is to the left. This is a great up close and personal mosaic capture from you Butcher. And as a lunartic I really enjoyed the view. Thanks for sharing this with us on here Butcher, and the best of regards.

The toughest part was trying to get the Dark part on the top right to fade nicely since it was in the shadow. I also am still working on the full Mosaic of that night, It was shot with the 1600mm and this was with the 290mm and both with the 1.5x Barlow. The seeing was really good so I had to take advantage I should be done it soon.

Yup And I was actually thinking of selling it a couple of months back after Mars to get a 10" RC but I decided to stick with it, It makes the moon being out less painful on clear nights.

Hello again Butcher. The crater to the lower left of Arzachel is Crater Thebit. If I can ever get our health/medical bills caught up here, and then get my Lunt 60mm Ha scope, the very next thing on my list is that C11 telescope.

Yeah,

Just don't use it for a waxing gibbous or larger without a filter or Sunglasses! When I forget to do that, I run into things when I'm walking away from the scope. Even when I go inside and look at the TV screen (with a show on obviously) all of the colors seem off! Only the C11 produces such a dramatic effect.

Alpetragius catches the light with it's bulge. Weird crater. I understand the protrusion is a volcanic feature.

Mosaics are difficult... I imagine doing one for a lunar closeup is doubly difficult. I would not have guessed this image was a mosaic except that you said so.
