Illuminated ISS Lunar Transit

Post by Dyno05 »

Hi,
I shot this last night in Westport CT. The ISS didn’t come out as sharp as I had planned, but I still think it’s worth sharing.
This is a 9 frame composite of stills taken at 1/2000th and ISO 1600 with a Canon 5diii through Celestron 9.25’ SCT. Thanks for looking.

Wow, how lucky are you to get the ISS to pass nearly dead center over the moon.

Very nicely done,

Thank you! Incredibly, the centerline was almost dead centered over The Westport Astronomical Society. I’m a member there and there were 4 of us there shooting it. This was my 5th successful lunar transit I believe. I really enjoy shooting the ISS because it comes by all the time. I can do it from home and it’s way less time consuming than DSO work.
