6-Panel Lunar, 31 May 2020

Got another clear one this evening before work ramps back up severely for the week.

Clear as a bell all day long, but just as twilight set in, a large dollop of cloud cover materialized and sat right over the top of my house (and hence the Moon). All around the horizon it was clear. And these clouds were barely moving.

My son came out and saw me standing there looking at the clouds and he laughed at the situation. He said, "It looks like they've been copied and pasted."

After about an hour wait this cloud dollop finally heaved off to the northwest and began to dissipate. I commenced imaging as soon as I was able.

Same exposure as last night, but I probably should have nicked that back a tad. Seeing was a little more fuzzy compared to last night as well.

Anyway, here she be:

Scope: Stellarvue SV102T
Mount: Celestron AVX
Cam: ZWO ASI174MC
Software: SharpCap, AutoStakkert, Registax, MS ICE

Image20200531 SV102T 22_02_41_g4_ap132_stitch by Bryan Gabbard, on Flickr

That'll be it for me for a while. Another 70-hour workweek ahead (or worse). I'm already exhausted.

Timely! I took out my Mak last night for some moon time, but by the time I set up, it was behind the house. I'll observe vicariously via your pic.

Yet another beautiful lunar grab by Bryan. The detail and contrast are always spot-on. Thanks for sharing! The 102 you have must be one in a thousand given the beautiful details and resolution you consistently get in the field … er, backyard.

Thanks for the very kind comments, everyone! :)

Hankmeister3 Henry, it's a pretty good scope. I definitely feel like I lucked out with that one. I need to put in a nice double star night with it. :)

Hi Bryan. Another screen full of lunar beauty from you. We have been busy here getting ready for the next upcoming hurricane season (removal of our old garden shed savaged by Hurricane Irma a few years ago, tree branch trimming, and gutter cleaning). And, if the constant daily deluge of rain and overcast skies ever end here, I want to get my Mak scope back out and see what I have been missing on the moon lately. Thanks for sharing your latest lunar masterpiece with us on here Bryan, and the very best of regards.
