I think i'm done,3 sets of 4 panels becomes very cumbersome and i can't wait to go back to single panels

you'll see eta carina somewhere in the middle of the frame (i think it's the little yellow bubble) which is two orbiting stars,one has erupted, they orbit every 5.5 years ,apparently one of the stars is an only know star that gives off ultraviolet laser emissions which is a cool fact ,an interesting target to read up on.


277 x 5 min exposures total on the target , i think it's about 23 hrs.

That's a beautiful mosaic Rob. Love the colors you ended up with. I'm just starting in NB and am a bit overwhelmed by all the data for a single panel. Four panels is impressive. Especially when it looks as amazing as yours.

Cheers, I stack with deepsky stacker then process in pixinsight. I have a routine even though stacking can be done pi, I still prefer deepsky stacker for simplicity, routine. I spent 2-3 hrs processing , I need to learn some script tools.

Cheers, I stack with deepsky stacker then process in pixinsight. I have a routine even though stacking can be done pi, I still prefer deepsky stacker for simplicity, routine. I spent 2-3 hrs processing , I need to learn some script tools.

That's a nice job of processing Rob, and wonderful data.
If you are interested you might try the following. I tried it on your image and it really made the image "pop"!

1) Open the RGBWorkingSpace process and slide the RGB sliders all the way to the right (1, 1, 1).
2) Apply RGBWorkingSpace to your image.
3) Extract the L channel from your image (ChannelExtraction/CIE L*a*b*/ only L channel checked).
4) Apply the L channel image as a mask to your image.
5) Apply LHE (LocalHistogramEqualization) to your image twice:
a) Once with Radius = 25 and Amount = 0.50,
b) Once with Radius = 110 and Amount = 0.3

I think you will like the results.

cheers ,i'll look into that one if i do a repro, this version i removed the stars, i had some overlap on the seems and the stars didn't align, i used one reference frame for all the panels, sometimes i can get it to work, must be a setting i missed.

Have you tried the GradientMergeMosaic process?

If you haven't, here is a tutorial. It works very well.

Oh man this is incredible! I really wish I had a shot at this target... It is incredible. This and the Statue of Liberty targets are way cooler than a lot of the targets we have in the north!
