California Nebula

#1

Post by sdbodin »

Finally got some clearing to get the RGB data for the Ha that I got half a month ago for the California nebula. Still the transparency was poor with passing hi-cirrus and the jet stream right overhead, did I say seeing was poor too. Used my 'DeadCat' Vivtar 250mm f4.5 for all shots, so poor seeing not a problem at 3 "/pixel.
calneb_250f45_final2.jpg
Specifics, 250mm f4.5 preset ancient Vivtar telephoto wide open, 12/5min Ha, 15/2min RGB thru Zwo ASI1600MC-cool camera, temp-20C, gain 200, offset 50, OSC used Baader fringe killer filter to cut down on the blue blast from this non-APO lens. Lens riding on Meade 16 LX200 for guiding and tracking with QHY5L-II guide camera at 2 second rate. Captured and stacked in Nebulosity, final in PS CS5 with Carboni tools. Posted image cropped and 25% full size.

Clear skies,
Steve

Very nice Steve. Picking up some of the low-level nebulosity. Quite a different FOV than your "Big Dog". Nice framing to capture the whole nebula.
