More Spaghetti

I was able to capture about 3 1/2 hours more data on this target, this time without the moon. As always, I've "pushed" it a bit too hard, but it was fun seeing some of the fainter details starting to show. FOV = 2 deg 25 min x 3 deg 38 min and still the nebula is larger than the FOV! It's a big one! Surprisingly this huge nebula wasn't discovered until 1952.

Hope you enjoy it.

The extra exposure time really has made a difference!

Outstanding image Steve!

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks Jim. I was able to bring out far more than I anticipated. I still couldn't really see the nebula in any of the captured images in BYEOS. Pretty amazing what these image processing programs can do.

WOW! A huge difference! It's so much brighter! Jeez this nebula is soo cool! I can't believe that is out there. I wonder why it formed that way...

Great capture Steve!

Beautiful image, Steve. I think I'm starting to see the meatballs.

Thanks Hank. I think the biggest meatball is the one processing it. :D

Thanks. Not a mosaic, just a nice big FOV with the WO Star71 telescope with fl=349 mm. I specifically chose the shorter focal length telescope to get the nice wide FOV. I've enjoyed it a lot.

Hey Steve....THAT'S GREAT!! I tried 2 nights ago to get some data on this (the night before I got 2 whole images until the winds made it impossible), got 4 images with both scopes/cameras then it got sooooo foggy you couldn't see across the street!!!
I'll keep trying!

Great capture Steve!
Simeis 147 (Sharpless 2-240) is a supernova remnant from a star that exploded around 40,000 years ago, and will continually expand until it finally dissipates. In the same manner as Messier 1 (Crab Nebula) and the huge complex of the Veil Nebula. They can evolve into some beautifully delicate structures during their lifetimes.

Thanks Tom. It will be fun to see what a real NB image can do. Hope you have a wide FOV!

Thanks Jim - It's badly overstretched, but, it was fun being able to see some of the "spaghetti" in there.
