Elephant trunk nebula

#1

Post by Micke187 »

So with a very crisp and clear night with a full moon i thought i would try my luck on the elephant trunk nebula with the narrowband-filter.
Really didnt think it was gonna go so well but damn the HA signal is really high in this area! Did try a couple of 03 but they were totally washed out from the moon so that will be another day.
Here is the result. Hope you all like it!
Exposure :
85x300seconds 7nm HA

Really nice looking data Micke. Your Ha filter works well.

Looking forward to the addition of other NB channels.

Hello Micke,

thank you for the excellent image of the Elephant Trunk, with a very high contrast.

As always, I am checking out the dark nebulae around, nicknamed like the Pelican, Running Gunman, Monkey .

I was wondering now when i start to get more clear weather but with the moon up can i shoot some S2? I have never used s2 when the moon has been up before so i dont know how much it will interfere.
Any thoughts?

I really don't know. I suppose you could look at the spectrum of good ole Sol since that's what is being reflected.

Well have almost no knowledge about how the spectrum charts works so.. I will have to test it how it will look instead.
I willl let you know soon enough how it goes :)

Well having tested s2 in moonlight i can say it will interfere some but maybe it can be usable?
this is a stack of just 5subs 300sec. An dont mind the ampglow in the right corners they can be fixed with darks later.
