Spaghetti Nebula with DSLR

I saw Micke187's recent posts of his nice HA images of the Spaghetti Nebula. I've seen a few other posts of this target in the past, but, never tried it myself. Thought I would give it a try with my Duo-Narrowband filter/modified DSLR combination. Unfortunately the moon was very close and bright last night which didn't help.

I wasn't able to see any sign of this nebula in the images presented by BYEOS during the data capture. Lots of stars, but, no Spaghetti Nebula! I just trusted that I was pointed at the correct location in the sky and kept taking images.

During processing I had to overstretch the data just to make the nebula visible. However, with the help of Starnet it was at least possible to begin to see some of the structure. This target is not for the "faint of heart".

The total size of this nebula is 3 deg 20 min x 3 deg which is larger than my 2 deg 25 min x 3 deg 38 min FOV. Some of the "top" and "bottom" of the nebula is cutoff in this image because of the limited FOV.

WO Star71 telescope, Canon T3, Duo-Narrowband filter
28 x 540 sec Lights (Total Exposure = 4 hr 12 min), Darks, Flats, Bias
BYEOS, PHD2, Pixinsight

Wow! really good with the moon so near. I was going to go for it too, but decided that the moon would interfere too much, luckily did not open up as the clouds gods saw me outside and quickly filled the sky.

Nice! Yeah this is a very faint target indeed. It need alot of hours to make it visible. Can say it wasnt showing alot in a single sub for me to even if i use a more sensitive camera and HA-filter.
And with the moon present isnt really that helpful either.

Great job on a super tough target. Just curious, what iso were you shooting?

Amazing job especially considering the moon phase. That duo- narrowband filter is awesome! As are hour imaging skills!

Thanks Jim - That filter definitely helps a great deal with the local Light Pollution.

I always shoot at ISO 800.

I am kind if fond of iso 800 also. Received the idas lps-1 today. First time ordering from Skygaze Optics. Free shipping was super especially considering I ordered it late Friday and received it about 11a.m. Monday.
