M45, A 4 Panel Mosaic With the 8" RC

#1

Post by Hondo »

Greetings! My first picture post here in quite a while. Imaged over multiple nights from 17 - 29 Nov 2019. Total time is just shy of 11 hours, 40x120 LRGB each per panel, all bin 2x2. Stacked with DSS and post processed with Star Tools and PS CS2. Final stitch was done with Microsoft ICE. Thanks for looking.

Scott, you live! Your weather must be like mine; lousy. That is just a stunning image, wow! Love the nebulosity (is that even a word?).

Nice you got some time in and hope all's well :D

Very good to see a new image from you Scott!

Wow, you've pulled out a ton of dusty goodness here. I don't recall ever seeing that much integration time on M45 before. Well done sir!

I love the color contrasts of this particular image of M45. Very unusual, however I have several images of Pleiades last year that hinted of some magenta color lanes in the background of this iconic open cluster. I thought it was some form of errant light pollution or "noise" but apparently it wasn't. This is one of the most interesting images of this DSO that I've ever seen.

Thanks for sharing, Scott.

More please.

Yes, the best part of this nebula is the slight magenta hues that are sometimes difficult to capture. I cant wait to give this one a try. This is a great example

Hi Scott
Spectacular image. Possibly the most extensive nebulosity I've seen in any photo.
