A cloudy night project, need about a hundred more judging by the poor weather here. A stack of all my Quintets from 2014 thru 2019 and all were done with different setup, some at f10 other at f6.7 and this year at f6.2. But, Nebulosity allows for translation, rotation and scale when stacking, so I gave it a good test with 48/5min subs. Given all the different sizes and rotations, the final image is about a 50% crop of full field, but all 6 of the Quintet are here.
Specifics, Meade 16 LX200, Atik 460ex mono, 42/5 min lum, 6/5min rgb all 2x2 binned. All OAG w/QHY5L-II mono. Finished in PS CS5 with Carboni tools.
Clear skies,
Steve

Hey Steve, I'm in about the same boat as you (I did get a few nights this week to image NGC2244 in the light of the "evil orb"!!) as far as using some old and new data! Pixinsight allows me to do the same. That's a really good composite image of a difficult target and your colors are really good......I LIKE IT! Maybe Santa will give us some clear skies for Christmas!!
Tom
It looks amazing! I have tried to see it visually but is a real challenge for my 6” of aperture.

Great image. This new feature of daily highlights bring some truly good images to the forefront of this forum.
I've never targeted this in my brief career as a visual astro person. Now you lit a fire in the belly! And, its going to be clear and cold tonight so I'm going to try.

Thanks all that liked this composite image. I'd like to correct a mathimajical error that I made on exposure calculation; of the 48 total images only 30 were lum and 18 were of one of the 3 colors, 6 of each, but, all 48 were stacked as a 'super' luminance in gray scale. SO, I thought I would post a raw of that stack, notice the 'care' in aligning my camera from night to night, and the clear difference from f10 to the f6's.
Clear skies to all, none here,
Steve
