Fossil Footprint Nebula NGC 1491

While I knew the Moon would impact success on capturing this DSO I needed the distraction (will hopefully be laid up for a while after tomorrow). With transparency average and seeing below average I was set up and shooting by 1905 hrs. My setup shoots a large FOV and with this Nebula not being huge I wasn't content until I cropped it ~60%.

I hopefully will revisit this DSO when we have a New Moon. The 90 minutes I have on this thing really doesn't do it justice. I had to laugh at myself, I had got everything dialed in and headed to the house to watch the progress on the computer in the house. I sat around in the warmth and when the first exposure came up I noticed something odd. Me using a Imaging Newtonian I am fairly familiar with diffraction spikes. They usually don't show up on a magnitude 8 star, last night they did! I quickly realized I had left the Bahtinov mask on the scope!!! So much for my imaging session being my distraction...

Here is the cropped version. Poor by Astrobin standards, not bad for a poor evening and a bargain basement imaging system.
