IC 410 - The Tadpoles Nebula in H-Alpha

This is IC410, the Tadpoles Nebula in Auriga.

Scope: CFF132
Mount: GM1000
Camera: SBIG STF-8300M
Guider: Lunt LE80OTA, LodestarX2 and a modified GSO barlow

Exposures:
Oct 10 Ha 12 x 15m = 180m = 3h 0m
Oct 11 Ha 16 x 15m = 240m = 4h 0m

Total Ha 28 x 15m = 420m = 7h 0m

The image was taken under an almost full moon. It is seven hours of hydrogen-alpha and it was done from my backyard, a Bortle 8-9 white zone.

Even after seven hours, the background is still pretty noisy. And the really faint stars are only just beginning to emerge. Usually it takes 12 hours or more for these types of images to clean up when shot from the city. I'm hoping to get some more time on it this year. Even just a couple more nights should make a noticeable difference.



The full resolution image can be retrieved at the URL below. This one is hot off the sensor so I haven't made a descriptive web page for it yet. Hopefully it will clear up soon and I can get some more time on it before winter sets in.
