Thr Pac-Man Nebula - Waka waka waka waka (35 hrs)

#1

Post by depratnt »

Greetings!

Every time I see this Nebula I just hear the “waka waka” sound that Pac-Man makes 😂

Anyway, for this project I gathered 35 hours of data; 30hrs Ha data and only 5hrs Oiii. The seeing here has been horrific, crippling some of the fine detail I wanted to grab. The moon is full as well so why not just start post processing!? I wanted 15 hrs of Oiii at least but I’m excited to move on to new targets I haven’t attempted yet.

The central cluster is what is responsible for the ionization of these gases. This Nebula lies nearly 10,000 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia.

I think after 35 hours I would be making that waka waka sound myself.

Gorgeous image.

Excellent image Teagan. The O3 data doesn't look to starved - looks like the data worked well.

So this is a bicolor Ha / O3 right? What is your mapping to RGB channels?
