M31 Andromeda Galaxy

#1

Post by hectorbdn »

Hello everyone! I was very proud at the moment to achieve this picture, it was very painful on the processing due to large background uneven illumination , anyways this is one of my last pictures with a DSLR modded, a Canon 550D, many people tends to make the core not bright but in my opinion I feel it unnatural, I tried to match what you see through a telescope with the image, so this is intended, many people don't like it but matter of taste I guess! let me know what you think about it :Astronomer1:

Yes Hector.
I think I understand your attitude and I appreciate this image very much.
It is an augmentation to my best visual observations rather than an "invention".

Very nice job with this one. I agree, it is a difficult target to process. To my eyes the background sky look overly blue. I suggest performing an S-curve transformation to increase the color contrast with especially the blue channel. In addition, I suggest decreasing the saturation a bit of the blue regions and then defining the gray point for the image.

Hello john, you are totally right, thank you very much for your advice, I took this picture like 2 years ago so I think I will give it a try to improve, just for showing , the gradients were like this:
