New Image: M51 The Whirlpool Galaxy

#1

Post by Kerry C. »

It has been a while since I have taken any Astro photos. I switched out my scope to get some galaxy and cluster photos. I finally got some time on M51, The Whirlpool Galaxy. 5 hrs interrogation time over a couple of nights. 300 photos 60 seconds each. Celestron 8SE @ 1280fl. ASI2600MC Pro camera, Optolong L-Pro filter. Processed with PixInsight and Topaz Labs
Hope you like, and thanks for looking,
Kerry

Thank you everyone for all the kind words. I have come a long ways and learned so much in the 3 years that I started taking and processing astronomy photos. Many thanks to those more knowledgeable than myself on this forum for answering my many questions.
I wish I had clear skies this coming week to try and get some good data on M101’s super nova. Sadly the forecast is for cloudy skies for the next several days. I will most likely miss out before it dims away.
