NGC 6823

My first session out since beginning of June - summer really is not conducive to AP in the West of Ireland. Made extra exciting by being first session with my new ZWO EAF driven by APT which worked perfectly.(I know our own @STEVE333 had a hand in developing the Autofocus in APT so thanks Steve). So with my todmorden pier and autofocus this entire session, except removal of cover and caps was done from my office. How cool is that? It was great to be back at it.

So this is NGC 6823 withthe SW 80 ED, ASI 2600mc, L-enhance. Its around 4 hours of 180s subs. processed two ways - normal and HOO, I'm not sure which I prefer. I will try to get some RGB stars for it when the moon is gone.

Thanks Bob. Yes I was very pleasantly surprised that the EAF went so smoothly. Normally when I add in any technology it takes several sessions to get it playing nice. well this was pretty much plug and play and APT provides great details on how to set it up.

Thanks Marius,. The Oiii is very very faint, with the L-enhance its almost too faint to achieve much which is why my core is so pale. Good luck!

Well both are good images, the Ha one highlights the structure and the HOO the nebulousity.

Very nice capture and processing David. If you are running a tally, out if the two I prefer the “normal” process on this one.
On a side note and as to the ZWO EAF, I love, love, love using mine with APT. The only issue I ever had was operator error when I changed telescopes and forgot to enter the new focal range in the APT perimeters.
