Eastern Veil

Post by Larry 1969 »

Hello everyone!
This is my first image processed with Pixinsight. I did use APP for stacking, but the rest was processed in PI.
I still have a lot to learn but this was a good start. I stacked this in APP with no corrections applied and saved it unstretched. I opened the image in PI and did an auto-stretch (nuke button). I used DynamicCrop to eliminate artifacts then DBE with some larger sample boxes. I skipped ColorCalibration alltogether because I was rather happy with the color. EZ DeCon freezes PI every time I try it and regular deconvolution couldn't be more convoluted! EZ noise reduction worked like a charm! I did use SCNR to pull back the red ever so slightly. EZ soft stretch got me in the ballpark and Curves finished the job. Mulit Scale Linear Transform for a little sharpening (I think) and Bill's star reduction...

I'm just flying by the seat of my pants here...

Thanks for looking and CC welcome.

Nice work Larry!

Very glad to see that things are working out in PI. Certainly looks like it! Excellent acquisition and process!

Nice first PI image, Larry. It is easy to lose the subtle Blues in the Eastern Veil but you have held on to them very well.

This is an excellent capture of the Eastern Veil. A lot of images of this nebula tone down the starfield drastically. I like the way your image gives a better feel for how dense the Milky Way is in that part of the sky.

Very well done. I've never used PI, but you seem to be handling it well.

Thanks guys!
As I look at this again, it seems the saturation could use a boost. I will look into that after work. I was just so excited to finally get an image out of PI I hurried up and posted it!

I boosted the saturation a bit and I'm done with it for now...
Thanks again for the comments!

It really looks great!

The Visible Dark series is helpful?

Thanks! I'll be referencing it for a bit until I get more comfortable with PI, but I'm happy so far...
