Processing past data again. Been about three months now since an imaging night and it is starting to wear on me. The old saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is definitely true!
I saw several really nice Pickering’s Triangle images posted recently. I was never happy with my last imaging/processing of the Triangle/Witches Broom back in September of 2021. The original process was way too bold for my tastes, but at the time it kind of “hit the spot”. Now looking back, a reprocess was definitely in order.
Poor skies are always a good time to look at old data for reprocessing, and after lots of distractions, I tackled this one finally and really enjoyed the process.
I struggled to not alter the teal tint of the OIII tendrils toward blue (I think it blue looks cool).
Instead, I kept the color of the image very close to the color calibrated linear version before stretching and tweaks. So, that left me with a teal OIII.
So, for better or for worse, this is my version of the 2021 data and it is certainly more subdued.
This version is more to my liking and it was really an easy process in Pixinxight with a tiny touch of a black adjustment in Adobe Camera Raw. It is really nice that you can see the histogram while making adjustments to the slider.
