Dark Nebula in Sadr - SHORGB (Black Velvet Nebula)

Hey Folks!!

This dark nebula lies near the star Sadr. A very active region, home to several of our favorite targets to image! This has always been one of my favorite targets but it has evaded me for the past two years. I'm happy I was finally able to put some decent time into it.
In the past I had never left the green tones from the HA data in my SHO images. To be frank I used to be highly against any greens in my image.. As of late, that hasn't been the case and I quite enjoy it now. A tasteful touch adds a lot to an image I suppose. I hope you all enjoy!

Hi Teagan. A beautiful Dark Nebula in Sadr (also Gamma Cygni Nebula and IC 1318) image from you, especially on the astrobin site. This was a well spent 53 hours of data and superb processing. I was lucky enough to have 11 straight nights of clear skies last month and I ABSOLUTELY took advantage of it! From Cincinnati too.. unheard of! haha.

A lot of folk remove the green out Narrowband, Personally I think having the correct and balanced amount of green is in an image is so much better. You have a really nicely balance image there, lovely work

Excellent image. I would probably not have thought to do this target in NB. I think the NB added a lot of contrast that my be lost in a straight LRGB.

I was able to see dark nebula just in the data that I used to for my RGB stars.. and from bortle 7. This surprised me. I would MUCH rather shoot this target in broadband as well but I knew that this region was rich with NB signal so I thought I'd give it a try.

Maybe I could put several more hours into an LRGB dataset and get something worth while!
