Part of the Gamma Cygni nebula, imaged in HOO. I would have shot the stars in RGB, but a cloud got in the way and shortened my session. I may go back and get the RGB stars next clear night.

Nice one Kathy. The other night I captured 3 hours worth of Ha on this region. I had a slightly different framing to include the Crescent Nebula. I'm hoping to capture the matching O3 data soon. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kathy. A wonderful Gamma Cygni Nebula (IC 1318) image in HOO light. Well framed, excellent contrast, lots of details and colors in the wispy nebulosity and dark dust lanes in your capture. This is a super capture Kathy, outstanding.
I’ve learned a lot since I knew it all.
150mm Orion Mak-Cass, Orion StarSeeker IV GoTo mount, Telrad.
Orion 10 & 23mm (set 1.25), Explore Scientific 9 & 18mm, 2x GSO Barlow, just purchased 2” Orion twist diagonal, GSO 32mm plossl and Agena 8-24 zoom.

You got lots of blue in this image, which I usually don't see much of in images of this nebula. Those 900s O3 subs paid off.

I saw someone's version of this nebula that indicated that there was some Oiii to be had. The palette I use, a variation of HOO, brings out any Oiii that is there, making the scene look like terrestrial clouds illuminated by a setting Sun.

If anyone wants to try this palette, it is:
R = 1.5 * Ha - Oiii
G = 0.4 * Ha + 0.325 * Oiii
B = Oiii

The negative Oiii term in the red channel tones down the Ha so that it doesn't overpower the Oiii. Mixing some Ha into the green channel is what gives it that post-apocalyptic orange colour.
