NGC3628 The Hamburger Galaxy

Galaxy Season always sees the 25 year old LX200 GPS on its wedge being lugged out together with the Canon 700D for a few image sessions.

This is about 100 X 180s (5hrs) at ISO 800, 700D, 8" LX200GPS on Wedge, SW 0.85 FF/FR. Not going to win any prizes of course but for me, considering the equipemt used, i'm OK with it.

Higher res is here but dont go pixel peaping - the stars are horrible! :lol:

Scope: Skywatcher Evostar 80ED (SW 0.85 FR/FF) on a SW NEQ6Pro
Guiding; SW Evoguide 50ED, ASI 120mm mini
Meade 8" LX200 GPS on wedge (Guided with a cheapo 50mm guidescope and a ZWO ASI 120mm mini)
Sharpstar 61EDPH II (with dedicated 0.8 reducer) with wiliam Optics 32mm uniguide
Camera: ASI2600MC pro. QHY 163M with ZWO 7nm NB filters, Canon EOS700D astro mod
Secondary mount: Skywatcher StarAdventurer

I thought the stars were pretty good. I did not do any enlargement to check. But who cares about that anyway.

If you ask me, it's a great capture of the galaxy. Nice color and lots of detail.

It's always nice to see a well done image taken with an LX200 scope on a wedge. So many astro-photographers have the impression that great images can't been taken with this scope. Your image speaks for itself.

thanks for that. Yes, there is a lot of derision on some other forums (never this one) when anyone says they will even try with an SCT on a wedge. Its really tiresome.
