The Monkey Head Nebula
Here is a bright emission nebula that isn't imaged much, NGC2174, aka the Monkey head Nebula. If you rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise and have a few beers, and use your imagination, you will notice the outline of a monkey head :-).

Very nice detail showing up in the SHO palette, especially the wispiness around the edges. If I rotate the image, will you provide the beer?

LOL- ok, I can provide the beer, Bob!
Nice image of the Monkey Head, Chris! I agree, you can see it more clearly in your image and without any alcohol consumption :-)

Thanks much, Steve. A few good evenings after almost 6 months of horrible weather. So I need to take full advantage of it. I also switched to NINA as my acquisition software and it has also made a big difference.

I was using SharpCap (SC) since I started out doing live viewing several years ago before moving into AP . SC is excellent for live viewing and planetary imaging but it is still in early development for AP . NINA is excellent and not terribly difficult to learn and is very well supported.

Hi Bruce. A superb image of the Monkey Head Nebula (NGC 2174) in SHO light using the C11" EdgeHD f/ 10 scope. And yes, I can see the monkey head in your capture. Very nice colors and delicate wispy details in your work here. Thanks for sharing this with us Bruce and congratulations on receiving the TSS APOD Award today.
