Soul Nebula - SHO

#1

Post by STEVE333 »

I was able to capture 5 1/2 hours worth of Sii data last night, the most data I've ever collected in one night! Adding it to the previous Ha and Oiii data produced the image below which has been rotated and slightly cropped. The Sii added some nice depth to the image. The original image was 4656x3520 pixels. The final image is 3287x3287 pixels. North is down in the image and East is left.

IMAGE DETAILS:
Equipment:
W.O. Star71 telescope, EFW Filter Wheel (8-Position), 3 nm Chroma S/H/O/ filters, ASI1600MM camera (-15C, Gain=140), CEM40 mount, Orion MMAG autoguider, StarLite stepper motor (focusing), Dew Heaters

[Mount/ASI1600MM camera/Filter wheel/MMAG autoguider/Focusing stepper motor all controlled remotely using APT. APT is on a laptop in the house which is connected by a WEme 4-port USB 2.0 extender system with 40 ft ethernet cable to the equipment outside at the end of my mobile home driveway.]

Images:
29x600 sec Ha (4 hr 50 min), 55x600 sec O3 (9 hr 10 min), 33x600 sec S2 (5 hr 30 min, Total Exposure 19.5 hr), Master Dark Frame (24 Darks), Master Flats (30 Flats and 30 Flat Darks for each filter). Dithering on every image.

Software:
Captured with APT, Guided with PHD2, Processed with PixInsight. The new APT Autofocus routine was used for all focusing.

Thanks for looking.

That’s a beauty Steve! Excellent processing. The addition of the Sii data really refined the detail and the colors of the SHO palette really stand out. Congrats, well done!
