Thanks Henk, my new acquisition, the ASI533MC is proving to be money well spent, it is extremely sensitive.

Hi Steve
I love SIRIL, it's the processing software I've been dreaming of. I've struggled with all the others for varying reasons and SIRIL is the quickest and simplest and most consistent yet and it's free. I can throw my subs in one end, run a script and have a completed image in 30 mins which is ideal for me, I don't want to spend ages processing.

I tried Siril on my Astroberry Pi4b and could not figure out how to get it working through the GUI. Trusty ole DSS works fine for me. However to use DSS on Windows I wait until the end of the session, then copy all images over WiFi, ugh, then stack. It would be nice to stack on the Pi while it's acquiring the data. If you have any good references about how to use Siril without too much hassle I would love to hear. For one thing it would be nice for live internet sessions that we have tried here off and on. I believe they took an initial step to eventually make DSS run on Unix by porting the GUI to Qt (or something else, I could be mistaken).

I tried Siril again and with some more effort I could get it working through the GUI. Apparently one cannot escape making copies of every sub file in Siril's native format before the data can be processed. There is no obvious way to include flats and biases through the GUI. It is probably there but you have to work through so many tabs and new concepts that it is almost impossible to figure out how to use it without reading a tutorial. I haven't tried scripting, for sure it must be easier to use than the GUI.

The subs that I managed to stack, stacked quickly though. I may revisit it some other time because to be honest, I have seen other stacking tools that are difficult to use too. Nothing is as easy to use as DSS IMHO so I will stick with that and figure out my gradient removal some other way (I think Siril has some capability there).
